LSUA defeats Gold Nuggets 72-64

ALEXANDRIA, La. — Dannah Martin-Hartwick, one of four double-figure scorers for LSU-Alexandria, had 17 points Tuesday in the Generals' 72-64 Red River Athletic Conference women's basketball victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
It was rhe first of four games in seven days for the Gold Nuggets (7-4 overall, 2-3 RRAC). They'll play host to Texas College at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in XULA's Convocation Center.
Martin-Hardwick, a junior guard, scored in double figures for the seventh consecutive game.
Jewel Jones scored 15 points, Alex Harrison 14 and Amani Gray 12 for LSUA (3-10, 2-4). Gray had nine rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Shylia McGee, with a season-high-tying 21 points, was XULA's only double-figure scorer. Jaleah LaFargue and Abryhia Irons scored eight points apiece — LaFargue's total was a season high — and Ya'Jaia Goudeau scored a season-high seven.
XULA led most of the first quarter before an 8-0 run gave LSUA the lead for good. The Generals led 34-24 at halftime and 64-43 after Harrison's 3-pointer with 7:31 remaining. XULA then closed with a 21-8 run.
LSUA outshot XULA 46.2 to 42.2 from the floor and made nine 3-pointers. The Gold Nuggets were 1-of-14 on 3s; Autumn Chassion connected on XULA's final attempt.
It was the third consecutive conference loss, all on the road, for XULA, which was picked first in the RRAC preseason coaches poll. LSUA was picked eighth. Last season the Gold Nuggets defeated the Generals 99-63 and 74-39.
