NEW ORLEANS — Abryhia Irons produced a double-double and reached a milestone Thursday to help Xavier University of Louisiana earn a 68-53 Red River Athletic Conference women's basketball victory against Texas College.
        Irons had 18 points, a season high, and a career-high tying 12 rebounds. Her first assist of the game — it led to a Shylia McGee basket at 8:18 of the first quarter — made Irons the fourth Gold Nugget to reach 600 points, 500 rebounds and 200 assists in a career.
        The double-double was Irons' second this season and the seventh of her XULA career.
        McGee scored 17 points, and Rayna Ross grabbed 10 rebounds to help XULA (8-4 overall, 3-3 RRAC) snap a three-game losing streak.
        Te'Aire Hambrick scored 13 points for Texas College (5-9, 2-5).
        The other Gold Nuggets in the 600-500-200 club are Antasha Jones, Jazmoné Kelly and Athletic Hall of Fame member Kay Williams.
        XULA will play host to Jarvis Christian at 2 p.m. Saturday.
