HAWKINS, Texas — Xavier University
of Louisiana defeated Jarvis Christian 75-59 Saturday to stretch its women's basketball
winning streak to 10 games.
The streak is the longest for the
Gold Nuggets (16-5 overall, 11-1 Red River Athletic Conference) since winning
12 in a row during the 2012-13 season. The 1997-98 Gold Nuggets won a school-record 22 in a row.
It's the 14th time the XULA women have
won at least 10 in a row. Seven of those streaks occurred during current head coach
Bo Browder's 23 seasons.
XULA earned six of the victories in
the current streak on the road. Six of the victories were by double digits, including
the last four.
XULA remained a half-game behind RRAC leader
Our Lady of the Lake, a winner at home against LSU-Alexandria.
The Gold Nuggets will be home Monday to play
RRAC opponent Louisiana Christian at 5:30 p.m. in the Convocation Center. It'll
be a doubleheader, with the XULA and LC men playing at 7:30 p.m.
