Generals take command, score 56 second-half points to beat Gold Nuggets

NEW ORLEANS — Junior forward Raegan Ojoro scored all 22 of her points in the second half Thursday to rally LSU-Alexandria to a 78-67 Red River Athletic Conference women's basketball victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
The Gold Nuggets (12-8 overall, 6-6 RRAC) will visit LSU-Shreveport at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Ojoro — 8-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the line in the final 20 minutes — helped the Generals (8-12, 7-6) flip the script after XULA led 35-22 at halftime. It was LSUA's fifth consecutive victory.
Nia Bishop and Abryhia Irons scored 17 points apiece for XULA, and Shylia McGee grabbed 13 rebounds.
LSUA opened the third quarter with a 19-2 run and took the lead for good on Jade Brumfield's basket at 4:26 of that period. That gave the Generals a 39-37 advantage.
LSUA made 24-of-31 free throws to the Gold Nuggets' 5-of-12.
