Red River Athletic Conference standings

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana scored all its goals in the first five minutes of the second half Saturday to earn a 3-0 Red River Athletic Conference men's soccer victory against Texas A&M-San Antonio.
The XULA men (9-2 overall, 8-1 RRAC) have won two straight and nine of their last 10 games. They share first place in the RRAC with Louisiana Christian, a 3-1 winner at Houston-Victoria.
XULA is 4-1 on the road in the RRAC — the four victories are shutouts.
Sebastian Pinto's goal 35 seconds into the second half broke the scoreless tie, then Gustavo Oliveira — the Gold Rush season scoring leader — added goals in the 48th minute and the 50th minute. Official stats did not credit any assists, but XULA head coach Gonzalo Carranza said goalkeeper Breno Zanolla deserved one for the final goal — a Zanolla save followed by his long pass to Oliveira in an open field. Oliveira then won his 1-on-1 battle with TAMUSA goalkeeper Jesus Blanco.
It was the first time XULA scored three times in a half since three first-half goals Sept 6 at Spring Hill. Defense has been the Gold Rush calling card — XULA allowed no goals in 16 of its last 18 halves, including the last five.
Zanolla recorded five saves in his sixth shutout victory.
Joining Oliveira, Pinto and Zanolla in XULA's starting lineup were Juan Braz, Eduardo dos Santos, Caleb Evans, Julio Gruba, Leonardo Menzen, Fabricio Reis, Ignacio Solorza and Caio Tascheto.
Overall XULA has an RRAC-leading seven shutout victories — all in the last nine games and four of them on road — in its debut varsity season.
Texas A&M-San Antonio (7-4, 6-3) lost for the second time at home in three days. The Jaguars were 5-0 this season at home before Thursday.
Also Saturday in the RRAC, Texas A&M-Texarkana won 2-1 at Southwest (N.M.), Our Lady of the Lake won 1-0 at home against North American, Jarvis Christian won 5-0 at home against Texas College, and LSU-Shreveport won 9-0 at Paul Quinn.
