women's volleyball used three big surges Saturday to earn a 25-13, 25-17, 25-16
Red River Athletic Conference victory against Jarvis Christian.
The Gold Nuggets (17-5 overall, 14-0 RRAC)
need to win 1-of-2 next week at Our Lady of the Lake to clinch the RRAC regular-season championship.
XULA produced 17-2 runs to erase early
deficits in each of the first two sets, and the Gold Nuggets ended the match
with a 10-1 run.
XULA statistical leaders included
Kennedy Wade with 14 kills, seven digs, two blocks and an ace,
Sydney Murray with 10 kills and four aces,
Stella Dineva and
Taylor Parker with five kills apiece and
Bengisu Kazazlar
with 32 assists, two kills, two aces and eight digs.
Kiah Barton had 10 kills and
three blocks for the Bulldogs (10-17, 3-11). XULA outhit Jarvis Christian .326 to .000.
Seventh-year head coach
Pat Kendrick
earned her 150th victory at XULA against 43 losses. In 37 seasons as a head coach,
Kendrick-coached teams are 617-482.
XULA will play OLLU at 7 p.m.
Wednesday and 7 p.m. Thursday in San Antonio, Texas. The Saints are 13-1
in the RRAC after their 25-13, 25-18, 25-14 home victory against Huston-Tillotson.
