NEW ORLEANS — NAIA All-American Kennedy Wade had 16 kills and hit a season-best .464 Saturday to lead Xavier University of Louisiana in a 25-15, 25-18, 26-24 Red River Athletic Conference women's volleyball victory against Huston-Tillotson.
The Gold Nuggets (13-4 overall, 10-0 RRAC) earned their 10th consecutive victory and maintained their one-match lead in the RRAC over Our Lady of the Lake and Texas A&M-Texarkana.
Wade produced nine kills in a final set in which XULA rallied from 14-11 and 19-17 deficits. Wade's hitting percentage is her best at XULA in a match with 25-or-more attacks.
Wade was the only player to reach double-figure kills, but four teammates had at least six. Filling the box score again was freshman setter Bengisu Kazazlar, who had two kills, four aces, one block, 33 assists and eight digs.
Parker, a freshman middle blocker, hit .462 to finish the two-match series at .621 — 20 kills, two errors and 29 attacks. Parker had three blocks, Mack had two, and Dineva served two aces.
Kennedy White had nine kills and three aces for the Rams (4-12, 3-5).
XULA outhit Huston-Tillotson .300 to .099 and produced advantages of 47-25 in kills, 8-5 in aces and 45-32 in digs. It was the fourth consecutive match that XULA hit at least .300 and the sixth time in the last seven matches.
XULA won for 66th consecutive time in a regular-season conference match on its campus. The streak began Oct. 23, 2010, in the Gold Nuggets' previous home, The Barn.
