Red River Athletic Conference standings

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana women's volleyball finished second in the Red River Athletic Conference after a 21-25, 25-5, 25-21, 25-16 loss Thursday to Our Lady of the Lake.
The Saints (18-11 overall, 15-1 RRAC) swept the two-match series and won the RRAC championship by one match over the Gold Nuggets (17-7, 14-2), who needed to win 1-of-2 to earn the title. The regular-season championship is OLLU's second in a row, and it's the second straight year the Saints won both regular-season meetings with the Gold Nuggets.
Next is the RRAC Tournament Nov. 10-11 at XULA's Convocation Center, and that winner will receive the RRAC's automatic bid to NAIA nationals.
OLLU tied the match by outhitting the Gold Nuggets .571 to minus-.385 in the second set. It was the fewest points ever scored by XULA in a non-fifth set.
Mia Francis and Mia Dorsey had 11 kills apiece for OLLU, Madalyn Gonzalez had nine blocks, and Tina Trevino had 16 digs.
Sydney Murray had 13 kills and 13 digs, and for the second straight day she was the only Gold Nugget to reach double figures in kills. Taylor Parker had eight kills, six blocks and an ace, and Bengisu Kazazlar had four kills, 29 assists, two aces, 11 digs and two blocks.
        XULA hit a season-low .039.
Four teams have qualified for the RRAC Tournament — OLLU, XULA, Texas A&M-Texarkana and Louisiana Christian — and OLLU, XULA and TAMUT are set as the top three seeds. The final two teams will qualify this weekend.
XULA will have a first-round bye and play in the tournament semifinals at 7 p.m. Nov. 10.
