Coaches poll of March 22, 2023
        PENSACOLA, Fla. — 
 Xavier University of Louisiana's 13-match win streak in women's tennis ended
  Saturday in a 6-1 loss to West Florida.
	
        The Gold Nuggets, 18-4 and ranked fifth
 in the NAIA, lost for the first time since Feb. 18. West Florida is
 9-7 and ranked 35th in NCAA Division II.
 
         
Valaine Clarke won twice 
  for XULA. Clarke and 
Yi Chen Pao won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles against 
	Mayumi Saguchi and Guadalupe Martinez. On the second singles court, Clarke defeated 
	 Carlota Verdu 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 1-0 (11-9).
	 
	         Also in singles, 
Valentina Largacha
	  on court four and 
McKenna Wheatley on court five lost in third-set super-tiebreakers.
		Both had lost first sets.
 
		
		        The Gold Nuggets will play host to
		 NAIA No. 14 William Carey at noon CDT Saturday (April 1).
		 
		         
NOTES:  XULA's Sunday home
		  match against NCAA Division I Florida A&M was canceled at the request
			 of FAMU, which cited a Southwestern Athletic Conference scheduling conflict . . . 
			  The Gold Nuggets remained No. 5
			  in the NAIA coaches poll announced Wednesday. They're in the top five for
				 the fifth consecutive poll and in the top 25 for the 89th consecutive poll. 
				 The top-25 streak started in 2012.
