METAIRIE, La. — Xavier
University of Louisiana women's soccer on Thursday was shut out for the first time.
LSU-Shreveport got goals from Chelsea Brown, Madison Salas
and Olivia Sanchez in a 3-0 Red River Athletic Conference victory at Lafreniere Park.
XULA (3-3 overall, 3-1 RRAC)
will return to Lafreniere for a 5 p.m. Saturday RRAC matchup with unbeaten Texas
A&M-Texarkana. Admission is free.
Brown scored in the 22nd minute with
an assist from Paulina Fierro — the only first-half goal. Salas scored
in the 56th minute, and Sanchez scored in the 65th minute. Dawnielle Torres assisted
on both second-half goals.
Both teams had five shots on goal.
It was the fourth consecutive shutout for
LSUS — the first two were scoreless ties — and Carlota Alcalde was the winning goalkeeper.
The Pilots ended XULA's three-game winning streak.
