Toppers rally to defeat Gold Nuggets in 5

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — Rae Ann Hall's 19 kills and three aces, both season highs, helped Blue Mountain Christian rally Tuesday for a 25-14, 18-25, 24-26, 25-15, 15-12 women's volleyball victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
Next for the Gold Nuggets (9-13) will be a two-match Red River Athletic Conference series at their Convocation Center against Texas College: 6 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.
Hall served all her aces in the fourth set and produced four kills in the fifth.
        XULA statistical leaders included:
        •  Taylor Parker with 15 kills and four blocks.
        •  Bengisu Kazazlar with five kills, two aces, 42 assists and 13 digs. It was Kazazlar's ninth assist-dig double-double of the season.
        •  Ruxandra Flueras with a match-high 24 digs.
        •  Kamea Uitenham with 14 kills, 14 digs and two aces. It was Uitenham's fifth kill-dig double-double of the season.
        •  Kennedy Campbell with 10 kills and a .474 hitting percentage.
Olivia Ashton had 15 kills, and Jalyah Jackson and Kerianna Collins served four aces apiece for the Toppers (15-5), who won their seventh in a row. Blue Mountain's 14 aces were the most this season by a XULA opponent.
XULA's only lead of the fifth set was 3-2. A 7-2 run put the Toppers ahead to stay, and an attack error and a Kaytie Rutland kill ended the match after the Gold Nuggets closed to 13-12.
