NEW ORLEANS — City rival Loyola
erased first- and third-set deficits Tuesday to earn a 25-20, 25-15, 25-22
women's volleyball victory against Xavier University of Louisiana at The Den.
Loyola (5-15) stretched its winning
streak to three matches after trailing 15-9 and 17-12 in the first set and 15-11 in the third.
The Wolf Pack ended the four-match win streak of the Gold Nuggets (7-12).
Freshman Clarissa Dupree hit .281 with 12 kills
for the Wolf Pack, and Amaya Bazemore had 10 kills, two aces and two blocks.
Simone Moreau had 17 digs.
Kamea Uitenham had six kills for XULA,
and
Olivia Arroyo and
Kennedy Campbell had five kills apiece.
Ruxandra Flueras had 18 digs
to raise her five-year collegiate total to 2,145. Arroyo produced a season-high three
blocks and matched her season high of 11 digs.
Loyola outhit XULA .137 to .093 and
held advantages of 42-25 in kills and 10-3 in aces.
XULA will travel to Austin, Texas,
for Red River Athletic Conference matches against Huston-Tillotson
at 6 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday. The Gold Nuggets are 4-2 in the RRAC
and tied for third place.
