2024 Red River Athletic Conference women's volleyball standings
NEW ORLEANS —
Xavier University of Louisiana women's volleyball rallied Saturday
for a 16-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-15, 15-13 Red River Athletic Conference victory against Our Lady of the Lake.
It was XULA's final home match
this season, and it was a reversal from Friday,
when the Saints won after trailing 2-1 in sets.
Kamea Uitenham had 15 kills and
Taylor Parker 10 for the Gold Nuggets (14-14 overall, 11-3 RRAC),
and
Kennedy Campbell and
Kennedi Bell had seven apiece.
Felise Jones
served a season-high-tying three aces.
Camila Ramirez had 17 kills and Mia Francis
11 for OLLU (19-8, 12-2). Tina Trevino served four aces, and Chanisty Villarreal Bermea had three.
OLLU led 55-46 in kills and 12-7 in aces,
but XULA countered with a season-best 16 blocks, one less than the school record.
The Saints led 10-8 in the fifth set after erasing
the Gold Nuggets' 4-1 lead. XULA never trailed again after Parker and Uitenham's block tied the score at 12.
Uitenham's kill made it 14-13, then Ramirez was long on her attack to end the two-hour, two-minute match.
XULA ended OLLU's 12-match win streak.
XULA will travel to Hawkins, Texas, to play Jarvis
Christian in a two-match RRAC series to close the regular season: 6 p.m. Friday and
11 a.m. Saturday. The Gold Nuggets have clinched a berth in the six-team RRAC Tournament
Nov. 15-16 at San Antonio, Texas.
