HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Xavier University of Louisiana's second season of women's soccer ended the way the first one did — with a shutout loss at William Carey in the second round of NAIA nationals.

Salmon leads the NAIA this season with 35 goals and 84 points.
The Gold Nuggets had two shots on goal against freshman Nerea Pallas — Shakiana Dagher in the 38th minute and Julia de Souza in the 75th.
William Carey (19-1-1) improved its win streak to 14 games and its home unbeaten streak to 59. The Lady Crusaders advanced to a round-of-16 game Dec. 2 or 3 at Pensacola, Fla., where the final four rounds will be played.
XULA — the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament champion and a 1-0 first-round winner Thursday against Mid-America Christian, the Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season co-champion — finished 14-6-2. The Gold Nuggets are 27-12-2 (.682) all-time.
It was the final college game for de Souza and senior teammates Britni Belmonte, Gabriela Gonzalez, Grete Nelson, Luci Schroeder and Theresa Wiesiolek.
