Xavier University of Louisiana's
James Weathers is the
Red River Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in men's basketball for Nov. 25-Dec. 1.
The RRAC announced Monday the award, Weathers' first.
This is his first XULA season.
Weathers, a 5-foot-11 graduate transfer guard from Baton Rouge, La., and
a Glen Oaks High School alum, scored a season-high 24 points in XULA's 89-72 home victory
against then-NAIA No. 6 LSU-Alexandria. The loss was LSUA's largest ever against XULA, and it was just the third
loss in LSUA's last 28 games.
It's the second straight week that a XULA guard won this award.
Lance Williams
earned it for Nov. 18-24.
XULA visited LSU-Shreveport Monday. The next five Gold Rush games after that:
• Thursday, Dec. 12 at home vs. Texas A&M-Texarkana, 7:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Dec. 19 at home vs. Southwest (N.M.), 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 21 at home vs. Paul Quinn, 3 p.m.
• Thursday, Jan. 2 at Texas College, 7:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, Jan. 7 at home vs. Texas College, 7:30 p.m.
