NEW ORLEANS — MidAmerica Nazarene never trailed in the first two sets Saturday and broke a late tie in the fourth in a 25-21, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21 women's volleyball victory against Xavier University of Louisiana in the Big Easy Blastoff.
The Pioneers (5-4) finished 3-1 in the Blastoff and assured themselves of no worse than a tie for second place.
Avery Lowe hit .385 with 13 kills and two blocks for MNU, Mia Olson had 10 kills and three blocks, and Katrina Davis had 46 assists, four kills and 10 digs.

Kamea Uitenham produced her second straight double-double, 17 kills and 12 digs, both season highs.
Kennedi Bell hit .636 with eight kills and five blocks,
Ruxandra Flueras produced a season-best 26 digs,
Kennedy Campbell had seven kills and five blocks,
Bengisu Kazazlar had 24 assists and 12 digs, and
Taylor Parker had seven kills and seven blocks.
MNU clinched after a fourth-set tie at 18, and Olson's kill ended it.
MNU outhit XULA .149 to .101. The Gold Nuggets' attack percentage was a season low.
