NEW ORLEANS —
Campbellsville women's volleyball grabbed a share of second place in the Big Easy Blastoff
by winning 25-20, 25-20, 25-14 Saturday against Xavier University of Louisiana in the last of 12 tournament matches over three days.
The Tigers were 3-1 in the Blastoff, same as MidAmerica Nazarene.
Marian (Ind.) was first at 4-0.
Emily Aabye had 10 kills, Erica Calderon nine and Cierra Merrick eight for Campbellsville (6-6), and Jana Krstic
had 35 assists to finish with a Blastoff-leading 182.
Taylor Parker and
Kamea Uitenham had eight kills apiece for the Gold Nuggets (1-7), and
Olivia Arroyo had seven.
Parker led the Blastoff with 21 blocks.
Campbellsville cruised after erasing first-set deficits of 15-11 and 17-14.
The Tigers outhit XULA .232 to .148 and limited the Gold Nuggets to a season-low 32 kills.
XULA has lost seven straight since an opening-day victory.
Next for XULA will be four matches in the
Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Classic at Salina, Kan.: Friday at 5 p.m. vs. William Penn and 7 p.m. vs. Kansas Wesleyan,
then Saturday at 10 a.m. vs. Sterling and noon vs. Stephens.

Marian 3, MidAmerica Nazarene 1 (25-22, 25-13, 26-28, 25-8):
Mikayla Christiansen and Gabby Fish combined to hit .379 with 31 kills to lead the Knights (9-1) to their seventh consecutive victory.
Marian became the second team to go 4-0 in the Blastoff; the first was Wayland Baptist in the inaugural event in 2015.

Campbellsville 3, Columbia (Mo.) 2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-18, 19-25, 18-16):
The Tigers saved three match points, and Calderon and Elizabeth Erwin blocked Allana Capella to end a 2-hour, 21-minute match.
Calderon hit .533 with 18 kills and six blocks, and Merrick hit .359 with 15 kills, 14 digs and four blocks.
Mariana De Carvalho hit .298 with 18 kills, 12 digs, two aces and a block for the Cougars, ranked seventh in the NAIA.

De Carvalho hit .387 with 17 kills, 11 digs and two blocks. Teammate Clara Gower had 17 digs and finished with a Blastoff-leading 82.
The Cougars outhit the Wolf Pack .295 to .114.
