SALINA, Kan. —
William Penn served a season-best 14 aces and hit .290 Friday
in a 25-14, 25-22, 25-15 women's volleyball victory against Xavier
University of Louisiana at the Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Classic.
The Gold Nuggets (1-8) will
play Kansas Wesleyan at 7 p.m. Friday, then play twice Saturday.
Laila Person hit .389 with nine
kills — both season highs — for XULA. The freshman also
had two aces and a block.
Alyvia Johnson had 11 kills, Katlyn Jeter hit .429 with nine kills,
and Jade Melton hit .438 with eight kills for the Statesmen (5-5).
Cade Hahn and Emilie Bojorquez-McFadden served four aces apiece.
XULA hit .096.
The Gold Nuggets led early in every set —
8-7 in the first, 9-8 in the second and 6-5 in the third.
