SALINA, Kan. —
Rylee Serpan hit .375, a season best, with 11 kills Friday
to lead Kansas Wesleyan to a 25-16, 25-17, 25-18 women's volleyball victory against Xavier
University of Louisiana at KWU's Coyote Classic.
The Gold Nuggets (1-9) will
play twice Saturday in this tournament — 10 a.m. against Sterling,
noon against Stephens — then return home for their Red River Athletic
Conference opener next Friday against Texas A&M-Texarkana.
Serpan led an offense that hit .277
in the Coyotes' home opener. Gianna Adriaanse had 10 kills for KWU, and Ella Schmid served four aces.
Taylor Parker had seven kills, two aces and three blocks for XULA,
Laila Person produced six kills and two blocks,
Olivia Arroyo served two aces,
and
Ruxandra Flueras had 12 digs.
XULA hit a season-low .091
and finished under .110 for the fourth time in the last five matches. XULA hit .204 in 2023.
