Kamea Uitenham and
sophomore
Taylor Parker combined for more than half of Xavier University of Louisiana's 53 kills
Friday in an 18-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-22 Red River Athletic Conference women's volleyball
victory against the University of the Southwest.
The Gold Nuggets (4-11 overall, 1-2 RRAC)
and Mustangs (1-6, 1-4) will meet at noon MDT Saturday to conclude their two-match series.
Uitenham produced 16 kills, and Parker had 13
to help the Gold Nuggets snap a two-match losing streak.
Olivia Arroyo had seven kills,
and
Bengisu Kazazlar,
Stella Dineva and
Kennedi Bell had five apiece.
Dineva's kill brought XULA to match point,
then a Southwest attack error ended it. The Gold Nuggets won the final set after trailing 10-4.
Kazazlar served two aces, and Parker, Uitenham, Arroyo and Dineva had one apiece.
Flueras had 24 digs, Uitenham produced a season-high 16, and Kazazlar and Arroyo had 10 apiece.
Southwest's .093 hitting percentage was the lowest
by a XULA opponent this season. The Mustangs are 0-5 at home this season.
