METAIRIE, La. —
Iman Ouedraogo's two goals and two assists Saturday led NAIA No. 20
Xavier University of Louisiana to a 5-0 Red River Athletic Conference men's soccer victory against Jarvis Christian.
Ouedraogo, the Red River leader in points with 30,
scored twice for the fourth time this season.
Also scoring twice
was freshman
Lennart Niederlaender. Ouedraogo assisted on both his goals.
Breno Zanolla was in goal for his 24th career XULA shutout.
And a rarity for Zanolla or any goalkeeper: He assisted on Ouedraogo's goal, XULA's first of the game, in the third minute.
Guilherme Domingues' goal in the 20th minute gave the Gold Rush a 3-0 halftime lead.
The XULA men have yet to allow a first-half goal at home since their varsity launch in 2023. That streak covers 20 games.
Jarvis Christian is 1-9-1 and 1-4-1.
Domingues, Zanolla,
John Orgah,
Fabricio Reis and
Ignacio Solorza were
honored during a pregame senior-day ceremony.
Weather at kickoff (4:01 p.m. CDT): sunny, 81 degrees,
humidity 47 percent, north-northwest wind at 7 mph. Venue was Freedom Field at Metairie Park Country Day School.
The Gold Rush will return to Texas
for 3:30 p.m. RRAC games Thursday at A&M-Victoria and Saturday at North American.
The next home game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 23 against RRAC opponent Louisiana Christian
at Lafreniere Park.
