Roper breaks her season record; Gold Nuggets climb to 2nd in RRAC

METAIRIE, La. — Samira Roper broke her Xavier University of Louisiana women's soccer record for goals in a season and led the Gold Nuggets to a 5-0 Red River Athletic Conference victory Thursday against Louisiana Christian at Lafreniere Park.
Roper, a senior forward, scored three times to raise her season total to 22 goals, which also ties her for second in the NAIA this season. Roper scored 19 goals in 2024, her first XULA season.
The Gold Nuggets (8-2-3 overall, 7-0-2 conference) climbed to second place in the Red River when league-leading LSU-Shreveport, playing at home, rallied from a 2-0 deficit for a 5-3 victory against LSU-Alexandria. XULA will visit LSUS (10-5, 9-0) at 1 p.m. Saturday. LSUA is 7-2 in the Red River and in third place.
Alina Paiz and Keira Hardstaff also scored for XULA, and goalkeeper Luisa Bella did not allow a goal for the seventh time in as many conference games.
The Wildcats are 4-5 and 3-5.
