The Gold Nuggets volleyball team finished its 2025 regular season in style, sweeping three consecutive opponents to enter the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament with great momentum.
Xavier (19-9, 7-3) fell 3-1 to Our Lady of the Lake on Halloween, but has not looked back since. On Nov. 1, the Gold Nugget responded to their loss by sweeping Our Lady of the Lake, then did the same on back-to-back days against Jarvis Christian as part of XULA's 2025 Homecoming festivities.
Sophomore Kennedy Campbell was a driving force behind the Gold Nuggets' run of wins, notching 46 combined kills over XULA's final four matches.
Felise Jones, the Gold Nuggets' sophomore setter, was also strong, logging 66 assists over the same stretch.
RRAC Tournament Bound
Now, the Gold Nuggets turn their attention to the postseason, where a showdown with Texas College (0-16, 0-10) awaits.
XULA, the No. 3 seed, and the Steers, seeded sixth, will face off Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Convocation Center, which is home to the 2025 RRAC tournament. The match will be broadcast live on the Xavier Athletics YouTube page.
The Gold Nuggets downed Texas College in straight sets in both of the teams' regular-season encounters.
Should Xavier win in the morning session, No. 2-seeded Our Lady of the Lake would await at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Tickets for the quarter and semifinal session can be purchased at XULA's virtual ticket office.
The RRAC championship match is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday. Championship match tickets are also available online.
