NEW ORLEANS —
City rival SUNO took advantage of 12 Xavier University of Louisiana walks
to grab a 10-3 baseball victory Wednesday at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
The Gold Rush (11-27)
will conclude the season with a three-game Red River Athletic Conference home
series against Our Lady of the Lake at Skelly-Rupp Stadium: 5 p.m. CDT Friday,
then a noon Saturday doubleheader.
Alex Crews,
Cam Finn,
Colby Henderson,
Zion Morris,
Skyler Roberts,
Jayden Smith
Caleb Washington and
Hunter Wheaton will be senior-day honorees between Saturday games.
Six Knights walked, two with the bases loaded, during
a four-run first inning, and SUNO (21-20) never lost that lead.
XULA scored all its runs in the second inning — Washington's RBI single,
Cohen Boyd's
bases-loaded walk and Smith's sacrifice fly to center — but SUNO
scored two runs apiece in the second and sixth and one run apiece in the fifth and eighth.
Bryce Garrett had four RBIs, and Brandon Watson and
Kerrigan Edmondson scored three times apiece for SUNO. Garrett stole home in the fifth.
Finn had two of XULA's seven hits. Boyd's seventh-inning
infield single extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
Brycen Dartez (4-4), the second of six SUNO pitchers,
earned the victory with five scoreless innings. Dartez retired the first 11 batters he faced.
