Big Easy Blastoff schedule

        NEW ORLEANS — Unbeaten Xavier University of Louisiana women's volleyball, led by sophomore Kennedy Campbell's 14 kills, won 25-16, 25-19, 25-11 Thursday against city rival SUNO in the opening match of XULA's Big Easy Blastoff.
        The Gold Nuggets are 5-0 for the first time and have won every set this season.
        XULA's other matches in the three-day, five-team event, all at the Convocation Center:
        •  6 p.m. Friday against Doane.
        •  2 p.m. Saturday against Cumberland.
        •  7 p.m. Saturday against Blue Mountain Christian.
        Campbell hit .385 in 26 attacks and had two blocks. Kamea Uitenham and Sydney Murray had eight kills apiece, Taylor Parker had six, and Laila Person had five. Michaela Clayton's three aces and 14 digs were match highs, Murray had 10 digs, and Charity Metcalf produced 21 assists.
        Kendrece Dozier had five kills for SUNO (0-1).
        XULA outhit SUNO .380 to .101. The Gold Nuggets outscored the Lady Knights 7-1 to end the first set, 8-2 to end the second set and 9-1 to end the third.
