Xavier University of Louisiana produced 13 blocks — its most in a three-set match
in five years — and earned a 26-24, 25-15, 25-15 women's volleyball victory
Saturday against Point at the University of Mobile's Pharr Gym.
The Gold Nuggets (12-3) reached
five consecutive victories for the second time this season.
Taylor Parker had six blocks for XULA,
Kendall Evans five,
Kennedy Campbell three and
Sydney Murray and
Lauryn Matthews two apiece.
Parker's 1.31 blocks per set this season rank ninth in the NAIA.
Kamea Uitenham had seven kills, two aces and
12 digs for XULA, and Murray had six kills and three aces.
XULA outhit Point .159 to minus-.037.
It was the third time this season that a XULA opponent had a negative hitting percentage.
Tianna Kynard had 10 kills and two blocks for the Skyhawks (13-11), who lost their fourth in a row.
XULA erased a 15-12 first-set deficit.
