HAWKINS, Texas - The Xavier women's basketball team dominated Jarvis Christian 63-42 Thursday night in the first of a four-game conference road trip for the Gold Nuggets. 

XULA (8-7, 5-5 RRAC) led Jarvis (3-14, 2-9 RRAC) by 7 at the end of the first quarter and build steadily from there, outscoring the Bulldogs in each subsequent quarter. 

The big story of the night was the Gold Nuggets' stifling team defense. Xavier held Jarvis to just 18 percent shooting and forced 16 turnovers. 

Offensively, XULA was led by junior forward Fatima Katembo, who came off the bench to score a game-high 14 points. Yara Bou Harb, Alicia Blanton, and Tiarra Tillison were also key contributors, with 9, 9, and 8 points, respectively. 

Up next for the Gold Nuggets is a Saturday visit to Texas College for a Red River Athletic Conference contest that tips at 1 p.m.
