LECOMPTE, La. - The XULA men's basketball team fell in overtime against LSU-Alexandria here Saturday, dropping a heartbreaking 95-93 decision in Red River Athletic Conference play.Â
Xavier (12-6, 9-4 RRAC) shot 51.8% from the field, a slightly better 3-point average proved the difference in the hyper-competitive game. The Generals (14-6, 11-3 RRAC) connected on 48 percent of their 3-pointers, compared to 38 percent for the Gold Rush.Â
The loss put XULA in third place in the RRAC race, behind LSU-Shreveport and LSU-A.Â
As disappointing as the loss was, Saturday's game had its high points for the Gold Rush.Â
Center Jamal Gibson posted another double-double with 28 points and 16 rebounds, Bentravin Phillips added 20 points, and Leon Williams added 12.Â
Saturday's contest was the final leg of a four-game conference road swing for XULA, which returns home for a three-game stretch beginning Tuesday at 7:30 with an RRAC game against Louisiana Christian in the Convocation Center.Â
