LECOMPTE, La. - The XULA women's basketball team suffered a tough, close loss to LSU-Alexandria Saturday, falling 65-60 in Red River Athletic Conference action.
The Gold Nuggets (10-8, 7-6 RRAC) struggled from the field, shooting 30.8 percent compared to 47.7 percent shooting for LSU-A (9-10, 8-6 RRAC).
There were still bright spots for Xavier, though. Laila Sigure led all scorers with 15 points on 4-for-7 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 effort at the free-throw line. She added 8 points, 3 steals, and an assist.Â
Jala Williams added 9 points and 4 rebounds, and the quartet of Ryli Martin, Fatima Black, Yara Bou Harb, and Tracy Thomas added 6 points apiece.Â
Saturday's contest was the final leg of a four-game conference road swing for XULA, who returns home for a three-game stretch beginning Tuesday at 5:30 with an RRAC game against Louisiana Christian in the Convocation Center.Â
