NEW ORLEANS - The Xavier women's team fought hard, but was ultimately turned away 65-55 by the RRAC-Leading LSU-Shreveport Pilots here Thursday night. 

XULA (6-6, 3-4) struggled to produce points in the first half and was unable to make up a 13-point halftime deficit despite playing better in the third and fourth quarters. 

The Gold Nugget defense was strong in the game, holding LSU-S (14-2, 10-0) to just 36 percent shooting on the night. 

Thursday's loss also overshadowed an incredible individual showing by senior guard Tiarra Tillison, who registered a game-high 23 points as well as 6 steals, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. 

Freshman forward Tracy Thomas also had a solid showing, scoring 13 points and pulling down 5 rebounds. 

Xavier remains at home for its next contest, a Saturday conference game against Texas A&M-Texarkana. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
