XULA men run in Nicholls Invitational

THIBODAUX, La. - Seven runners representing the Xavier men's cross country team put in a great effort at the eighth edition of the Nicholls Invitational.

Benjamin Ford had the strongest showing of the group, earning a top-20 finish in a time of 23:18.8, which landed him in 17th.

The remainder of the Gold Rush contingent consisted of Ra'Shad Cure (37th, 26:48.6), Kamal Webb (39th, 27:23.9), Kasen Robinson (43rd, 28:07.7), Jaylan Babineaux (45th, 29:48.6), Josiah Brown (46th, 30:59.3), and Donte Robinson (47th, 30:59.3).

Most of the competitors in the Nicholls Invitational represented NCAA Division I and II schools, and the race was won by Jackson State's Ryan Achau.

Complete results from the Invitational, provided by Chipped Timing, are available on the AthleticLive website.

XULA's next run will be Oct. 16, when the team visits Clinton, Mississippi, for the Watson Collegiate Classic.

This race, which takes place on Mississippi Christian's Choctaw Trails Course, is of dual importance for Xavier. The Classic represents the regular-season finale for XULA, and it is also a great tune-up for the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship, which will be run on the same course in early November.
