Gold Rush take 2nd in Dirt Classic

JEFFERSON, La. - The Xavier men's cross country team came in second to the host school but bested in-city rival Dillard in Friday's running of Loyola-New Orleans' Dirt Classic.

XULA's Benjamin Ford had a great day, running 21:32.4 to place fourth. Ra'Shad Cure joined him in the top 10, placing ninth with a 23:11.9.

Ivory Montgomery posted an 11th-place run of 23:43.1, while Kamal Webb finished in 17th place (24:58.2) and Kasen Robinson 20th (25:44.9).

The meet, formerly referred to as the Loyola Invitational and New Orleans Triangular, was the Gold Rush's second race of the year. Full results are available via Chipped Timing and AthleticLive.

Next on the agenda for Xavier will be the Nicholls State Invitational, which is scheduled for 7 a.m. on Oct. 3 in Thibodaux.
