Solid showing for XULA trio at Nicholls Invitational

THIBODAUX, La. - A trio of Xavier women's cross country runners took to the course at the Nicholls Farm for the eighth edition of the Nicholls State Invitational Saturday morning.

All three XULA runners cracked the top 30 of a race that included a variety of NCAA Division I athletes and was won by former SEC mile champion Lorena Rangel Batres.

Jayda Love had the best performance for the Gold Nuggets, placing 24th in a time of 24:06.9.

Alexandria Pierson came in 26th with a run of 24:23.0, and Kayla Garrett came in 29th in 25:20.1.

Complete results from the Invitational, provided by Chipped Timing, are available on the AthleticLive website.

XULA's next run will be Oct. 16, when the team visits Clinton, Mississippi, for the Watson Collegiate Classic.

This race, which takes place on Mississippi Christian's Choctaw Trails Course, is of dual importance for Xavier. The Classic represents the regular-season finale for XULA, and it is also a great tune-up for the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship, which will be run on the same course in early November.
