SHREVEPORT, La. - The Xavier women's baseball team fought hard, but was unable to overcome the top team in the Red River Athletics Conference, falling 73-65 to LSU-Shreveport Saturday afternoon.
The Gold Rush (16-10, 12-8 RRAC) struggled from the field, shooting 33 percent on the night compared to 47.5 percent by the Pilots (23-3, 19-1 RRAC).
Three Xavier players reached double-figure scoring on the day. Forward Alicia Blanton posted her sixth double-double of the year with a 19-point, 12-rebound effort.
Tiarra Tillison scored 14 and Fatima Katembo 10 in the effort. Katembo also pulled down 6 rebounds.
Xavier returns home next week for the final two games of its regular season. The first of those games is Thursday night at 5:30 against Texas College.
