HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The XULA women's tennis team fell 4-0 to William Carey here Monday afternoon in a battle of NAIA Top 10 teams.
Xavier (2-3) entered the match ranked No. 8, while William Carey (2-0) was ranked No. 5.
The Gold Nuggets got some solid showings despite the loss. In the No. 1 singles match, Maja Brnic kept it close against WCU's Victoria Vieten, but ultimately fell 6-4 and 603.
Ana Sabikova and Makai Sales were keeping pace with JiAn Kang and Tiffany Chang in the No. 2 doubles match when it was suspended, after the Crusaders officially secured the double point.
Next up for XULA will be a three-game swing through Georgia and the Coastal Invitational. The first match on Thursday against SCAD Savannah.
