NEW ORLEANS - The Gold Nuggets completed a regular-season sweep of in-town rival Dillard here Monday night, riding a huge game from Jala Williams and Alicia Blanton to a 70-61 win.
The win marked the 603rd of Browder's career. The long-tenured coach eclipsed the 600-win mark against Texas College on Jan. 17.
Just under 8.5 percent of Browder's wins have come over the Bleu Devils, against whom he holds a career record of 51-11.
Xavier (13-8) had previously defeated the Bleu Devils (10-13) at the Convocation Center in November, and this time took the fight to Dillard at The Den.
Williams, starting at guard for the Gold Nuggets, scored a game-high 18 points and also posted 2 steals. Blanton, who has flourished since Coach Bo Browder moved her into the role of XULA's sixth woman, put up a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double.
The stat line of the game, however, was found in bench scoring, where the Gold Rush outperformed the Bleu Devils 30-2.
In addition to Blanton, reserve post player Fatima Black scored 16 points and pulled six rebounds.
Xavier returns to conference play later this week with a two-game RRAC road trip to San Antonio, Texas. The first game, slated for Thursday at 5:30 p.m., will be at Texas A&M San Antonio, with a Saturday visit to Our Lady of the Lake to follow.
