SHREVEPORT, La. - XULA baseball had a tough time in Northwest Louisiana Saturday, falling twice to defending national champion LSU-Shreveport.
Xavier (2-6, 0-3 RRAC) lost 15-0 and 22-0.
Cohen Boyd provided the only hit in Game 1, Chad McKenzie took the loss, but struck out 4 Pilots.
In the second game, Xavier's batters started to find their groove. Designated hitter Jayden Smith went 2-for-3, while third baseman Chase DeLoach went 1-for-3 with a double.
Catcher Kameron Briggs and left fielder Ashton Celestine added a hit apiece.
Next up for the Gold Rush will be a four-game home stand that begins Tuesday night with a non-conference, midweek game against John Melvin. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
