MOBILE, Ala. - The No. 10 Xavier men's tennis team overcame a strong challenge from the University of Mobile, besting the Rams 5-3 on the road.
The Gold Rush (2-1) swept the doubles matches to claim the first point of the day. The pairs of Nereo Suarez and Emmanuel Jebutu (6-1), Martin Rivera and Gabriel Velez (6-1), and Edilson Rosa and Samy Dahmany (6-3) all registered convincing wins.
In the singles competition, XULA got wins from Suarez at No. 1 (6-2, 6-1), Jebutu at No. 3 (6-1, 6-1), Rosa at No. 5 (6-1, 6-1), and Dahmany at No. 6 (6-2, 6-1).
Xavier will get an extended break before its next match, a Feb. 16 visit to William Carey.
