2026 Men’s Tennis XULA Invitational

April 16-18, 2026 (New Orleans, La.)

The format with be a round-robin tournament. The site will be at Xavier University of Louisiana Tennis Complex. A tournament fee ($500) to cover the cost of courts, referees, and balls will be charged to each team.

Key Dates

  • Tuesday, April 14 (10 a.m.) –Lineups due to Assoc. A.D. DeMarquez Trotter (dtrotte1@xula.edu).
  • Tuesday, April 14 (2 p.m.) – All lineups sent out to coaches to review.
  • Tuesday, April 14 (6 p.m.) – Protest forms due.
  • Wednesday, April 15 – Review of protests by coaches if necessary (Zoom call: 6 p.m.).

Line-Ups

  • Singles and doubles lineups should be exchanged simultaneously unless other arrangement are made prior to the start of the match.
  • The lineups should be fair, with the strongest player at No. 1 and so forth down the line.
  • If a player is injured, ill or unable to compete in doubles, another player may be direct line substituted for the player. The original order of play remains the same.
  • All physically able and eligible players shall be listed in the lineup. Coaches shall list all players who are able to play in the lineup at their appropriate position. Injured or ill players shall not be listed in the lineup unless they are cleared by an institution’s medical staff to play, and there is an expectation that they can complete their match. Players ruled ineligible by the institution, conference or governing body shall not be listed in the lineup.

Medical Services

  • Athletic Trainer: Rebecca Appelt (rebecca.appelt@ochsner.org) – will be onsite Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 
  • Ice is available.

Competition Model

  • Three doubles followed by 6 singles (3-6 format).
  • The format is three 6-game set doubles matches with a 7-point tiebreak at 6-all.
  • Doubles will be followed by six best-of-three set singles matches.
  • Seven team points.
  • The team that wins two of the three doubles matches receives one point.
  • Each singles match is worth one point.
  • Four or more points are required to win the team match.
  • After the doubles point has been decided, any remaining doubles matches shall be abandoned.
  • Once the outcome of the team match has been decided, the match will conclude.
  • All matches will stop at Clinch. Clinch Singles and Clinch Doubles
  • The ITA rule book should be followed in all matches. The code of conduct will be enforced.

Important Notes

  • This is a tentative schedule based on weather conditions and is subject to change. If there is rain in the forecast for Saturday, the semifinal matches may be moved to Friday late afternoon/evening.
  • Times for the listed matches are the best-case scenarios. They will likely be adjusted (moved back) as the day moves on. Matches will not start earlier than the time listed.
  • Teams will receive a minimum of a 90-minute break between matches.
