Baseball drops midweek contest to No. 18 Loyola New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS - The Gold Rush offense was solid, but a couple of bad innings cost the team an 11-4 decision in a midweek game against No. 18 Loyola New Orleans. 

All told, XULA put up 9 hits, three of which went for extra bases. 

Designated hitter Jayden Smith had a strong game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple, 2RBI, and a run scored. 

Center fielder Cohen Boyd went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, while first baseman Kai Higginson went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. 

Paul Ramseur accounted for the other RBI. 

Xavier next takes to the road for a three-game RRAC series against Our Lady of the Lake. The teams will play a single game on Friday at 7 p.m. with a doubleheader to follow on Saturday.
