Xavier takes 1-of-2 from TAMUSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The XULA softball team split with Texas A&M San Antonio in a Friday conference doubleheader, downing the Jaguars, winning 3-2 in Game 1 before falling 6-0 in Game 2. 

In the first game, the Gold Nuggets fell behind by 2 in the first inning, but scored 3 runs in the 3rd to set up the win. 

The game-deciding inning was highlighted by a 2-RBI double by Morgan Malveaux, which scored Miya Covington and Jada Jones, and an RBI single by Lexi McLin that allowed Malveaux to scored the go-ahead run.

Malveaux (8-6) continued her recent stretch of strong pitching, working a complete game and picking up the win while allowing 7 hits and striking out 3. She also went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI and a run scored at the plate. 

Covington finished 1-for-2, McLin 2-for-3, and Amireeya Malveaux 1-for-3 with a double. 

In the second game, Jones and Madison Williams 1-for-3 apiece to lead the Xavier offense. 

The teams wrap their series with a single game Saturday at noon.
