Xavier crushes Mobile 6-0 in conference play

The Gold Nuggets registered their third consecutive dominant win in as many SSAC games Saturday, storming past Mobile 6-0 to remain undefeated in conference play.

This marked the third game in a row that Xavier won by three or more goals.

XULA (4-2-1, 3-0 SSAC) scored three times in each half thanks to a perfect performance on offense. Xavier did not shoot often, but every time the Gold Nuggets got a shot on goal, it resulted in a score.

Xavier also limited Mobile (5-3, 1-3 SSAC) to just three shots on goal, all of which were saved by freshman keeper Aylin Yildirim, who finished with her second consecutive clean sheet.

Offensively, the Gold Nuggets scored their first goal in the 19th minute, an unassisted goal by Eduarda Queiroz.

Queiroz, who finished the game with a brace, scored her second goal, and the second goal of the match, in the 25th minute with an assist from Anita Roese.

Just before halftime, Juliana Kottbauer sent a pass to Alina Paiz, who buried it in the back of the net.

Then, in the second half, XULA got goals in the 59th, 61st, and 69th minutes.

Roese scored the fourth goal of the match with an assist from Queiroz, Julia Gurgel scored the fifth with an assist from Alba Mendez, and Shakiana Dagher capped the scoring with an unassisted goal.

Xavier remains on the road for its next two matches, conference visits to Dalton State and No. 10 Life, both in Georgia. The Dalton State match is slated for Friday at 4 p.m. and the Life match for noon on Sunday.
