XULA sweeps LSU-Shreveport in Big Easy Blastoff

NEW ORLEANS - The Gold Nuggets made short work of their former RRAC foes here Saturday, downing LSU-Shreveport in straight sets on the second and final day of the Big Easy Blastoff. 

XULA, which notched its third consecutive win, bested the Pilots 25-16, 25-18, and 25-21. Along the way, the Gold Nuggets doubled LSUS's kill percentage, posting a .262 compared to a .109. 

Kamea Uitenham and Charlie Henderson shared the lead for most kills with 13 apiece. Henderson finished with 16 total points and Uitenham 15. 

Kamrynn Williams and Felise Jones proved the most adept at setting up scores, assisting on 21 and 13 points, respectively. 

The Gold Nuggets also continued their streak of racking up service aces, scoring a combined 7 on the day, led by Jones and Henderson with 2 apiece. 

Defensively, Zoie Mayberry and Lauryn Matthews were the stars, with Mayberry producing 7 block assists and Matthews a pair of solo blocks to go along with 4 assists. 

Michaela Clayton was tops on the team in digs with 12, with Jones adding 10. 

Xavier wraps the 2026 Big Easy Blastoff tonight with a crosstown showdown against Dillard. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
