Xavier defeated Wiley for the second time in three games this season and avenged a 79-61 loss at Wiley on Dec. 6. The game was a late addition to both teams' schedules after the cancellation of the Hoopin' in Holidays Tournament at Los Angeles. That tournament, scheduled for Dec. 27-29, was scratched in late November.
The Gold Rush led 41-25 at halftime and held a double-digit lead the final 25 minutes. Xavier's points and winning margin were its largest of the season.
"That's probably the best we've played this season," Xavier Coach Dannton Jackson said.
Xavier will open its Gulf Coast Athletic Conference schedule at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Tougaloo. The Rush's next home game will start at 7 p.m. Saturday against Mobile in The Barn.
