Xavier University of Louisiana's
Rayshawn Mart is the first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player
of the Week in the 2020-21 men's basketball season.
Mart — a 6-foot-3 senior
guard from Houma, La., and a graduate of H.L. Bourgeois High School
— scored 27 points Wednesday in XULA's opener, a 79-58 home victory against Southeastern Baptist.
It was the 66th time that Mart scored in double figures for XULA and the 18th time
he reached 20 points.
Mart was 9-of-13 from the floor, 3-of-6 on 3-pointers and 6-of-6
from the line with five rebounds, two assists and three steals in 30 minutes.
His 27 points were the most in 20 years by a XULA man in an opener.
Mart is 16th at XULA with 1,287 career points.
The GCAC weekly award is the third of Mart's career.
He won twice as a junior.
