Alyvia Johnson had 11 kills and 16 digs, and Riley Hungate had 10 kills
to lead William Penn to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-16 women's volleyball victory against
Xavier University of Louisiana in the Grand View Tournament.
It was the first of two Saturday
matches for the Gold Nuggets (15-4), who will play William Woods at 3 p.m.
The Statesmen outhit XULA .287 to .144.
William Penn's hitting percentage is the best by a XULA opponent this season.
The Gold Nuggets produced 34 kills, one ace and one block — all season lows.
XULA statistical leaders included
Kennedy Wade with eight kills, one ace and five digs;
Emi Riglioni with 18 assists, five digs,
and one kill;
Maya Smith with six kills and a .556 hitting percentage;
Linda Mungai with 11 digs;
and
Stella Dineva with seven kills.
XULA led 16-13 in the first set and 9-3 and 11-6 in the second set.
William Penn is 14-12 with a three-match win streak.
