Xavier University of Louisiana's
India Mastin
was announced Tuesday as Red River Athletic Conference Runner of the Week in women's cross country
for Oct. 17-23. She is the Gold Nuggets' first weekly winner this season.
Mastin, a junior from Lebanon, Tenn.,
ran 5,000 meters in 20 minutes, 38.34 seconds Saturday at the
Mississippi College Fall Festival in Clinton, Miss.
The 5k time is the Gold Nuggets' fastest since 2019.
Mastin placed 14th out of 42 runners.
XULA finished fourth in the team standings and ahead of NCAA Division I Jackson State.
Mastin is the 11th in 15 seasons from XULA women's cross country
to win a conference weekly award.
Next for XULA's women and men will be the RRAC Championships Nov. 4 — one week from Friday — at
San Antonio, Texas.
