and
Angela Egonu produced a career-high-tying 14 kills and four blocks
in the second match to lead Xavier University of Louisiana
to a Red River Athletic Conference women's volleyball home doubleheader sweep of Louisiana Christian.
XULA won 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 in the opener,
then 25-17, 25-14, 25-14. They were the Gold Nuggets' first matches this season at their
Convocation Center, which had been offline since late August because of a
water leak that corrupted the wooden playing surface and necessitated the installation of a new floor.
XULA outhit Louisiana Christian .349 to .062 in the doubleheader.
Egonu,
Semira Blair,
Taylor McGee,
Linda Mungai, Madison Smith
and
Maya Smith were honored in a senior-day ceremony between matches.
The Gold Nuggets finished the regular season 19-8 overall and 14-2 in the RRAC.
They'll have a first-round bye in next week's RRAC Tournament at XULA and will play at 7 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
Louisiana Christian (9-12, 8-8) is 0-3 against XULA this season.
