        HAMMOND, La. — Damoy Boyd and Seth Alexander produced runner-up finishes Saturday for Xavier University of Louisiana's men at the Southeastern Strawberry Relays track and field meet.
        Boyd's second-place time of 1 minute, 54.83 seconds in the 800-meter run is XULA's fastest in this event in the last 12 seasons. Boyd was 1.03 seconds from an NAIA nationals B-qualifying mark.
        Alexander, previously qualified for nationals with an A-mark in the triple jump, finished second with another A-mark — but not a season best — of 14.59 meters/47 feet, 10 1/2 inches.
        Also placing in the top five were Edward Angel in the high jump (fourth place 2.03 meters/6-8) and Blake Harris in the triple jump (fourth, 14.29 meters/46-10 3/4).
        This was XULA's fourth meet of the outdoor season and its final one before the Red River Athletic Conference Championships April 29-30 in San Antonio. NAIA nationals will be May 25-27 at Gulf Shores, Ala.
