GULF SHORES, Ala. — Xavier University of Louisiana's
Edward Angel, in his final collegiate meet, earned All-America in the men's high jump Thursday at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium Complex.
The top eight finishers and ties in each event earn All-America. Angel tied for seventh place with four others. This is Angel's second NAIA All-America award of his XULA career; his first was in 2018 as a freshman.
Angel, Carter Reckling of Doane, Dylan Bikim of Indiana Tech, Ty Cooley of Midland and Tony Kinser of Southwestern (Kan.) all cleared the opening height of 2.00 meters/6 feet, 6 3/4 inches on first attempts. But all five went 0-for-3 at the next height, 2.05 meters/6-8 3/4.
Isaac Brown of Grace was awarded first place because of no misses at the winning height, 2.14 meters/7-0 1/4. Michael Millslagle of Graceland also cleared that height but had one miss. Brown and Millslagle missed three attempts apiece at 2.17 meters/7-1 1/2.
Angel is from Fulshear, Texas, and a graduate of Seven Lakes High School. On May 7 he received his XULA bachelor's degree.

Seth Alexander in the triple jump at 1:30 p.m. XULA's men had no Wednesday entries.
